Five ways to maintain Hope

Hello quick favor, turn on your television, quickly go to your local news channel, then go to your preferred international news channel. Get on your socials and scroll through the trending news, there’s a lot going on that is saddening.

To maintain hope in all the chaos seems like a very hard thing to do; well because it is. Here are some ways in which you can maintain Hope.

1. Smiling

It sounds silly but I did read up on this, smiling has so many benefits and one of them being longevity of life (very vane I know,, blink twice if you don’t want to live a few more years).

The other thing about smiling is that it really does warm a person up and those around the person, I know a few people that never stop smiling.. a friend of mine Kelvin an amazing singer (not the case here) is forever smiling, even way before you talk to him:guy’s mouth is already ear to ear.

2. Disconnect

Time alone doing nothing

A lot of us have it confused, we hold a strong opinion that disconnection involves getting off social media and catching up with people; yes that’s true but this doesn’t always work as it is harder to think when you’re still keeping up appearances, working and still getting tight in things.

The kind of disconnect, is where you leave everything, just to be quite somewhere, a small holiday, a short drive, a long walk, good sleep, good food, putting off all the hurdles and just breathing. After sometime Hope comes back or boom! A way to maintain Hope.

3. Reading

Aah, many of us know this so well, I am not talking about open that how-i-got-rich book or that guide to becoming a mother. Reading a children’s book, something you didn’t think was important, something for kids, for entertainment, something to remind you the joys of being young and free. louisa and Tamanda have some interesting stuff that most people don’t think about. That unpredictability(may not be a word) can be a way to maintain hope.

4.Community

We all have a community that remind us that we matter(if you don’t have, leave a comment and we will form our community). These days we roll in cliques, grocery sharing, Bible study, feminist, pro-patriarchy, Atheist, LGBTQI+ etc, people choose communities that they align with and feel most open with.

But sometimes it may be the same community that make you lose Hope, someone who is unsure of their stand might just be a ride along and when that someone airs out their uncertainty they may be shunned by the community they’re a part of. But having an honest, open community surely does maintain hope.

5.Food

Like what more can be said, food never goes wrong. A good dish can always bring hope to a hopeless stomach. Especially food made at a reputable place like ones home or restaurant.

These are the five ways to maintain hope, there are so many ways and a lot of people have written about it (do not let my blog filled with dry captions and shameless push adverts deter you on your journey to maintain hope.. leave a comment and subscribe or follow etc so you can keep up with my words! Thanks
